I am always looking for ways to improve my garden. This can be challenging with the space I have but has been a fun learning experience. Here is a collaborative post on common hurdles to a better garden.
Common Hurdles to a Better Garden
If you are always on the lookout for ways to improve your garden, you will probably find that there are also often just as any things getting in the way of you doing so. This is something which you will find can be particularly frustrating. As long as you manage to identify these common hurdles, you will also find that it is fairly easy to overcome them as well.
The truth is that there are a number of especially common problems which can get in the way of you trying to improve your garden as much as you would like to. The more aware of them you are, the more equipped you can be to manage them and deal with them.
Hopefully, this will lead to a much better garden in the end. It is therefore well worth considering if you are hoping to create a garden space which you can truly enjoy. Let’s take a look at some common hurdles to having a better garden, and what to do about them.
Size
Arguably one of the biggest problems people have is that their gardens are not quite as big as they would hope. Therefore, it is harder to do everything you want to do in them.
If your garden is much smaller than you would like, it can limit you in many ways. You will not be able to grow quite as many plants and trees, for a start.
Because of this, you will also find it is much harder to be able to keep the variety of your plants high, which can be vital for ensuring a beautiful display. You will also feel that beginning in the garden is not quite as comfortable or cozy, or even enjoyable, as when the garden is much bigger.
If you do have a garden which is too small, you might feel that there is not much you can do about it. You might be surprised as to how much there really can be done.
Feel Bigger
For a start, you might want to think about making the space feel bigger by removing some of the bigger plants and trees, or at the very least trimming and pruning them so that they are not blocking the light so much. That will make a huge difference to how much you can enjoy the garden and how spacious it seems to be, so it is something you should be careful not to overlook.
You will also be able to improve the feeling of size in the garden by providing more space in between items and plants. This too can be easily done even if you don’t have much experience.
As you can see, it doesn’t require landscaping or stealing space from your neighbors’ gardens to be able to improve the apparent size of your own garden. Once you have done so, you will find that it is then easier to enjoy the space.
Improve the garden in a thousand other ways too, and so make sure that your own garden is going to be considerably more enjoyable as well. Size is not everything, but it can certainly make a huge difference, so it’s wise to pay attention to it at least a little.
Finances
If we are being honest, there are plenty of everyday real-life concerns that can get in the way of you having a much nicer garden. One of the most common ones has to be a lack of sufficient finances.
It takes money to improve your garden, almost always, and you need to make sure that you can afford it if it is to go as well as possible, so this is another huge concern which you need to be aware of.
If you feel that you are not able to do your garden justice merely because you don’t quite have the resources to make it happen, then that is a real shame. There are likely going to be things you can do to make that situation better. Funding and financing your garden might even be a little easier and simpler than you might have thought.
How to Finance
Firstly, it could be worth setting up a fund for your garden which you add to over time. That can be as simple as a jar in the kitchen, or it might be that you need to think about opening a savings account and using that instead. However you do it, you should find that it is perfectly possible to make it happen.
You might also want to consider going out of your way to get larger amounts of money if you are thinking of making particularly big changes to your garden. For that, you could turn to a loan or a credit card. The best credit cards are those which allow you a time with zero percent interest, and that can be useful for purchasing items for your garden now so that you can improve it later.
However you do it, you should see that it is always possible to improve your financial standing, and that you can always hope to improve your garden as well therefore. Just make sure that you are budgeting it, so you are fully aware of how much you are going to need and when.
Skill
Perhaps you just don’t have that much experience in gardening, and it is this lack of skill which gets in the way of you and a perfect garden. Fortunately, if this is the problem, it is a particularly easy one to fix. It’s something which you will need to think about if you are to try and get your garden a little better looking and more enjoyable to be in.
The best way to improve your gardening skills – the only way, in fact – is to practice, to make a point of getting out there and just giving it a go.
You might also want to think about learning from someone experienced, whether via a book or in person. Do that and you will find you can create a much better garden space.
