Now that the weather is warmer, its the perfect time of year to enjoy your outdoor space. If you don’t have much of one, keep reading for some great ideas. Here is a collaborative post on 2018 patio must-haves for perfect patios.
The warmer weather is upon us, which means that we’re now spending more time outside than inside. While it’s all well and good spending lots of time outside when you love your garden, it’s more complicated when you’re not in love with the outdoor space that you have.
Far too many of us have fallen out of love with our gardens and have done nothing to remedy the situation. However, this needs to change, because having an outdoor space to spend time in can be beneficial to our mental health and general wellness.
Wondering how you can make more of your garden this summer? Let’s start with your patio (or deck) and create the most amazing relaxing space, featuring all of the 2018 patio must-haves.
Bright, Beautiful Dining
If there’s one thing that it’s great fun to do, it’s eat outside in the sun. That’s why every patio should feature a beautiful dining table, and the brighter and bolder the better. Not a fan of bright seating or a bright table? How about investing in a wooden table and chairs (or a glass one) and a bright, eye-catching printing umbrella? Watermelon and flamingo designs are both very in this year.
Solar Lighting
2018 is the greenest year, with an increased pressure on the globe to lead cleaner, greener lives. So if you are going to incorporate lighting into your patio garden, which you absolutely should, solar lighting is the key. Whether it’s strings of fairy lights or LED lanterns, solar powered is the way to go.
Keep it Cozy
For those summer nights when the sun has gone but you still want to stay outside, a firepit is the ultimate must-have item. There are some incredible designs to choose from, so whatever your patio size, there’s sure to be a firepit that fits the size and style of the space.
Cook Alfresco
A firepit is the ideal feature for creating a warm and welcoming outdoor space but usually you can’t cook on it. So you are going to need to invest in something to cook on – a BBQ could work well or for a more sophisticated experience, a pizza oven or smoker could be a great option.
Compact is Key
For storage space, summer 2018 is all about compact spaces, such as small, opensheds. These can be used to store wood for your firepit or smoker, gardening essentials, and even to display mini plant pots on.
Copper Features
Once again, copper is an interior design trend that is hot both inside and outside of the home. If you want to create a space that is stylish and on trend, incorporating copper features is the answer. Whether that’s copper plant pots, fairy lights or candle holders it doesn’t matter, all that matters is that you find a way to incorporate this trend into your patio.
Shrubs
Plants are pretty but in 2018 it’s all about shrubs, particularly on patios and decked areas. So if you want to add a little color to your patio, it’s shrubs that you want to be including in your patio’s design. While perennials and grasses are all well and good, this year it’s about incorporating more unique looking, exotic shrubs.
Want to create the most amazing outdoor patio (or decked) space this summer? Take note of the tips above and incorporate them in the design process and you can create a space that is not only on trend but also one that you fall head over heels for.
